Department: Operations – Sport
Reports to: Sport Supervisor
General Accountability
The Sport Crew will be responsible for several positions within the Sport team. A crew member may be responsible for Athlete Services, Sport Information Desk, Access Control or Competition Management.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Services
- Responsible for locker room set-up, athlete lounge maintenance and training areas
- Water, ice and towel distribution
- Maintenance of training equipment
- Maintenance of team benches
Sport Information Desk
- Responsible for knowing the venue inside and out
- Communicating any schedule changes to MOC and SHR
Access Control
- Ensuring properly accredited individuals get to the places they need to in order to perform their function
Field of Play
- Ensure smooth sport operation and maintain flow of competitors and team officials on/off field of play
- Ensure field of play is set up to standard
- Implement retrieval (shotput/discus)
- Competitor equipment management
- Adaptive equipment handling and set up
- Set up rowing machines for each wave
- Crowd management
- Ensure technical officials are taken care of
- Competitor marshalling and staging
- Competitor wrangling for medal ceremonies
- Other duties as required.
Experience
- Previous experience working in multi-sport games environment an asset
- Previous experience executing sport competitions for your sport
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
- Adaptable and flexible approach
- Exceptional people management skills- leader, coach, and mentor; prior experience in volunteer management helpful
- Diplomatic and discrete; personal maturity
- Good sense of humour and strong team player
