Department: Operations – Sport

Reports to: Sport Work Group Team Lead

General Accountability

The Sports Supervisor will be responsible for delivering a first-class field of play and sport program. Together with the SOC Chair, develop a plan for your sport(s) that caters to our unique client group and provides the best possible platform for competition.

Key Responsibilities

Athlete Services

  • Sport information ambassador
  • Overall knowledge of venue as well as access areas for competitors
  • Responsible for locker room set-up, athlete lounge and training area maintenance
  • Water, ice, and towel distribution and upkeep
  • Maintenance of training equipment
  • Handling of adaptive equipment
  • Up keep of team benches, locker rooms, and athlete lounge spaces

Sport Information Desk

  • Responsible for knowing our venues inside and out
  • Communicating any schedule changes to MOC and SHR
  • Printing of daily results/ensuring results are uploaded properly to the website or GMS
  • Responsible for all bookable competitor training sessions
  • Responsible for all bookable meeting rooms for nations

Access Control

  • Responsible for allowing or denying an accredited individual into the identified sport areas
  • Maintaining order on the field of play

Field of Play

  • Ensure smooth sport operation and maintain flow of competitors and team officials on/off field of play
  • Ensure the field of play is set-up and torn down according to plan
  • Manage the results distribution process on the field of play for “sport” areas
  • Ensure timing/scoring system is set up and operational

Technical Officials

  • Overall management of, and coordination with, the Technical Officials
  • Scheduling and training of Technical Officials to support your operation
  • Recruit volunteer Technical Officials and source locally where possible

Sport Equipment

  • Manage a team for set-up and maintenance of sport equipment
  • Ensure proper storage at end of each day and end of competition
  • Ensure all sport needs are met consistently

Experience

  • Previous experience working in multi-sport games environment an asset
  • Previous experience executing sport competitions for your sport
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Adaptable and flexible approach
  • Exceptional people management skills – leader, coach, and mentor; prior experience in volunteer management helpful
  • Diplomatic and discrete; personal maturity
  • Good sense of humour and strong team player
